The Belmont staff is made up of knowledgeable, hard-working, and passionate people (and clinic pets!). We pride ourselves on working as a team to provide the very best care to your pets. Whether it’s treating, monitoring, or simply providing love & support – we do it all.
Dr. Thomas Haug
Dr. Haug was born and raised in Kansas. He received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1982 from Kansas State University. He practiced for three years in Kansas City before becoming associated with Belmont Veterinary Center in 1985. Dr. Haug and his wife, Karen, have six children and four dogs. He enjoys spending time with family, reading, and being involved with his church.
Dr. Kenneth McFarland
Dr. McFarland was born in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. He was then accepted in the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine shared by UNL and Iowa State University. He received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Dr. McFarland started as a kennel staff member with Belmont Vet in 2012 climbing the ladder until he became a veterinarian.
Dr. Elizabeth Vander Broek
Dr. Elizabeth Vander Broek is a Lincoln, NE native and is thrilled to be serving clients and their pets in her hometown after relocating home from the Pacific Northwest. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine. She enjoys practicing general medicine and seeing your pet grow from a kitten or puppy to an adult and has a soft spot for giant breed dogs. In her free time, she enjoys reading and running, and spending time with her family including husband Jeremy, and sons Trinidad and Asher.
Dr. Jenna Rifer
Dr. Rifer is a 2016 graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science as well as a 2021 graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln/Iowa State University Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine. She is originally from a little town in Northeast Nebraska called Verdigre. She loves learning, interacting with others, solving problems, and she has a strong sense of compassion. Dr. Rifer looks forward to being able to serve her community as a veterinarian through the promotion of both public and animal health, and especially through the enhancement of the human-animal bond between her clients and patients. Additionally, she is currently a Fear-Free Level 3 Certified Veterinary Professional and has completed the Human-Animal Bond Certification Program by the NAVC and the HABRI.
